   Interesting and scary stuff, I as you said like many other have DECT cordless phones at home, and also ring the Bank, ISP, and other places where I am required to give information to authenticate myself.

   I am sure that the companies will (hopefully) make new implementations to ensure that the phones always use DSAA for any communication.

   I now know what you mean by a DECT phone, funnily enough I used to have a old BT handheld when I was about 11 or 12.

   I found a little trick which was pretty neat, I used to disconnect the base unit (power off at the wall) then press the dial button (within a few seconds) and normally pick up other peoples conversations.

   I wasn’t aware of the legal implications at the time, I soon stoped as I found most peoples conversations where very boring (no conspiracy theory unfortunately).

   Now that you mention it, I remember a phone call I had once from an elderly lady while working at a telecoms company. She rang up and was very upset and distraute due to the fact that every time she picked up her phone some one could listen/talk in her conversations and vise versa. When the other guy was on a conversation and she picked up the phone she could listen/talk on his conversation. The guy was very abusive as he must have been sick of some old lady being confused about what was going on every time he had a phone call. While she was on the phone to me, you could hear him swearing at her and telling her to f off, at the time I had no clue that she probably had a DECT phone, I think in the end I just sent out an engineer to have a look at the wiring. Just goes to show how some DECT phones must be really insecure.
